Maddie Driscoll (Lancaster cross country) – The sophomore finished second in Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association Division 2 state cross country meet Saturday afternoon at The Ridges Golf Course in Wisconsin Rapids. Driscoll, who finished ninth a year ago, ran a 5K time of 18:26.7 in finishing second to Emmerson Drobac, a senior from Deerfield/Cambridge.
The junior running back carried 14 times for 214 yarss and four touchdowns as No. 2-ranked Potosi/Cassville rolled No. 8 Johnson Creek, 48-28, in a WIAA Division 7 second-round playoff game. He added two receptions for 97 yards and two touchdowns, one rushing PAT and one passing PAT. His six total touchdowns set a program record. This season, he has 1,538 yards on 158 carries, 1,922 all-purpose yards and 22 touchdowns.
The senior leads the Class 2A state tournament-bound Trailblazers with 322 kills this season, including 12 in a four-set win over Jesup in the regional final. She has also contributed 24 blocks, 240 digs, 35 aces and has gone 293-for-317 (92.4%) at the service line. Beckman (32-7) meets Grundy Center on Tuesday in the state quarterfinals in Coralville.
